Army bands playing different tunes welcomed the guests to the 'At Home at the Punjab Raj Bhavan' on the occasion of Independence Day. The slight drizzle added charm to the picturesque surroundings and the lush green lawns. The evening started with the National Anthem following which the UT Administrator and Punjab Governor Gen S F Rodrigues (Retd) along with his wife Jean Rodrigues greeted the guests. Politicians, bureaucrats, retired defence personnel and residents from all walks of life were present. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal made an appearance. Finance Minister of Punjab Manpreet Badal as well as newly-elected MLA Jasjit Singh Bunny along with other Punjab politicians attended the function. Local politicians like BJP leaders Satya Pal Jain, Yash Pal Mahajan and general secretary of the city unit Sanjay Tandon were also present. UT Advisor Pradip Mehra, Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar, IG S K Jain, Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria, PGI Director K K Talwar and Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof R C Sobti as well as councillors and officials of the Municipal Corporation greeted the UT Administrator on the occasion. ...
