BJP Candidate of BJP from Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency Mr. Satya Pal Jain today welcomed the Election Commission permission to Punjab Pay commission to handover its report to the Punjab government. He said in light of Punjab Cabinets in-principal decision of March 2 to accept and implement the fifth Punjab pay commission recommendations with effect from January 1, 2006, this decision will give long awaited relief to employees of Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh governments.
Mr Jain expressed confidence that Punjab pay commission will submit its report to the Punjab government expeditiously and employees of Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh governments will get some relief from price rise and high cost of living. He thanked Punjab Chief minister and the Akali Dal BJP government of Punjab for accepting his request and taking a decision in the cabinet meeting of March 2 to implement recommendations of the pay commission with effect from January 2006 even if Pay commission report is received after the schedule for Lok Sabha elections is announced. ...

He recalled that BJP in its manifesto has provided for raising the limit of income tax exemption for employees and several other sections and it has also proposed several employee friendly measures like the provisions for an additional 50 thousand special exemption for women and senior citizens and no tax on pension.
