CHANDIGARH, Oct 15 — Mr Satya Pal Jain, former Member Parliament from Chandigarh, has urged the Union Health Minister, Dr C.P. Thakur to open a Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) dispensary in the city at the earliest.
Mr Jain informed the minister that there are about 25,000 central government retired employees in the city who are not able to get the benefit of the CGHS facilities because of the non-availability of a CGHS dispensary. He further pointed out that on a petition by certain employees, a Bench of the CAT had given directions to the Union Government for opening a CHGHS dispensary. He said, during his tenure as a member of the 12th Lok Sabha, he had given Rs 5 lakh out of his MPLAD fund for the opening of this dispensary.
He also urged the minister that keeping in view the acute problems and difficulties faced by pensioners,it would be better if PGI, Chandigarh and GMCH-32 were recognised for CGHS facilities.
