CHANDIGARH, Sept 30: The local Member of Parliament, Satya Pal Jain, has been included as a member of the Home Ministry's 15-member Committee on Judicial Reforms constituted by the Parliament, which has former Union Minister Pranab Mukherjee as its chairman.
According to Jain, the committee among other things would examine the service conditions of judges in the Supreme Court and the High Court, besides those in the lower judiciary. Jain said that for the last many years the service conditions for those in the lower judiciary had not been improved, adding that the judges held positions under the Constitution and thus their salaries have to be different from the officials.
The committee would hold its first meeting on October 7 and submit its report toParliament. Among others who are also part of the committee include former Union Ministers Hans Raj Bhardwaj, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra, Abdul Ghaffur and Venkaiah Naidu.
