CHANDIGARH, Aug 10 - The Union Finance Ministry has cancelled the transfer orders of Mr C.K. Vohra, Director Investigation of the Income Tax Department.
The ministry had ordered his transfer even before he had completed his tenure here. The local MP, Mr Satya Pal Jain, had taken up the case with the Union Finance Ministry on the plea that those involved in investigating special cases should not be transferred so as not to jeopardise further investigations.
Mr Vohra had conducted raids on engineers, contractors and suppliers of the Engineering Department of the Administration in November last year. The raids led to revelation of large amount of undisclosed sources of income besides exposing the alleged nexus between engineers on the one hand and suppliers and contractors on the other.
