Chandigarh March 31: BJP candidate for the forthcoming parliamentary elections Satya Pal Jain has said that his party will ensure ownership rights to those who have purchased property on the basis of General Power of Attorney (GPA).
Addressing public rallies in Sectors 38 and 44, he hit out at the Congress saying the party has not done anything other than demolitions and serving notices to house owners. Ravikant Sharma, Vinod Kumar, District President Prem Kaushik, Ramesh Kumar Nikku, General Secretary Santosh Mishra, Mukesh Kaushik, Bhimsen Agrawal, Pankaj Gupta, Krishna Gupta, Hansraj Grover, K L Gupta, Ramesh Mehta and R K Phatia were present during the rallies.
BJP workers, meanwhile, held a demonstration against the reduction in kerosene quota from 30 litre to 10 litre per family. Addressing the demonstrators, president of the state BJP unit Kamla Sharma said the middle class is most troubled under the Congress rule.

  CHANDIGARH: Bharatiya Janata Party secretary and joint incharge of Punjab and Chandigarh Kiran Ghai met office-bearers to take stock of the party’s preparations for ensuring Satya Pal Jain's victory on Sunday.

  She also attended a Sunderkand Path in Sector 22. She looked at the working of public contact campaign run by members of booth-level committees.

  The party intends to take out two padyatras daily, through which booth committee office-bearers and members will meet voters. BJP mahila morcha will hold a women’s convention on April 4 at the Sector-28 community centre from 2-5 pm. The morcha’s national president Kiran Maheshwari will also attend it.

  The BJP national secretary later addressed a massive meeting of party workers at Chandigarh state BJP office Kamalam on Sunday and said that the party’s victory was certain as Congress was in a bad shape all over the country.

Chandigarh: “When voted to power, the BJP will have a comprehensive policy on housing for the city,” said party candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Satya Pal Jain, while addressing a media conference in the city on Thursday. “We will ensure that permission for additional floors is given. The city will have to grow vertically since there is limitation of space,” he said. He claimed that the houses being provided by the Chandigarh Housing Board are very expensive with even a two-room set costing over Rs 30 lakh. “We will make a policy for additional floors in the bay shops and booths that are single storey,” added Jain. The BJP candidate also promised regularisation of need-based changes in houses. “People have made certain changes within their houses, keeping in view the growing population. These should not be demolished. Similarly, the construction carried out by villagers outside the lal dora on their own land should be regularised,” said Jain.

Chandigarh: The Election Commission (EC) of India today issued notices to Imran Kidwai, chairman of the minority cell of the Congress and the party to explain their stand on a speech delivered by him at a rally in Chandigarh on March 15. The decision was taken after a meeting of the Election Commission in Delhi.

...Welcoming the decision, Satya Pal Jain, BJP candidate from the city, said the speech was inflammatory. “We welcome the decision taken by the EC. The comments made by Kidwai in the presence of Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal were in bad taste.

To have said that a fatwa should be issued against Muslims who vote for BJP was an insult to the community,” said Jain.

CHANDIGARH: The BJP candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Chandigarh, Satya Pal Jain, on Thursday promised that on coming to power at the Centre his party would allow construction of one additional floor in all residential and commercial structures including bay-shops and booths.

Addressing media persons here, he said this had become necessary as Chandigarh’s population had increased at a very fast rate and housing had not kept pace.

Mr. Jain accused the Congress of neglecting the city’s housing needs and not formulating a comprehensive housing policy for the residents of the City Beautiful. He assured that on coming to power the BJP would draw up a 10-year plan for the growth of the city, which was a Union Territory besides being the State Capital of Haryana and Punjab.

Charging that the “Congress-controlled” Chandigarh Administration had “turned into a property dealer”, he said it was “charging up to Rs.30 lakh for a two-bedroom house”. ...

Similarly, houses built on own plots outside the Lal-Dora will also be regularized and provided electricity and water connections to facilitate house owners and make the lives of residents easier. This policy will address the additional floor in residential and commercial structures as also the provision of parking facility – multi story or underground – where possible.

Mr Jain said compensation for land acquired by Chandigarh Administration was way below that given by neighboring Punjab and Haryana. On coming to power BJP will ensure that Chandigarh pays compensation not less then being paid in Punjab.

Jain alleged that the statements made by Congress on the issue are baseless and against the facts. “Fact of the matter is that the prices of many of the commodities have gone up by 15% to 20%,” he asserted. Jain told people while addressing various public meetings organised in Sector 22, 24, 32, 40, 48 & Indra Colony, Manimajra.

Criticising bitterly the Congress Party, he said that the law and order situation has deteriorated, terror was let loose and the inflation touched a new high in the congress regime. CHANDIGARH: The BJP candidate from city for Lok Sabha elections, Satya Pal Jain, has accused the Congress of trying to mislead people by giving out wrong inflation-related statistics. Contrary to what was being claimed, he asserted: “Prices of many commodities have gone up by 15% to 20%.” Jain addressed various public meetings in Sectors 22, 24, 32, 40, 48 and Indira Colony, Manimajra, on Sunday. Criticizing the Congress, the BJP leader said law and order situation had deteriorated, terror had been let loose and inflation had touched a new high during the party’s regime. “Ex-servicemen, who spend their lives in the service of country, were pushed to the wall and had no choice other than returning their medals,” he added.

He rapped the ruling government for ignoring the interests of various sections, adding nothing had been done to create new jobs. Garnering votes for Lal Krishna Advani as the prime minister, he asked those present to defeat the Congress. “BJP-led NDA government will ensure all-round development of the city, and participation of its citizens in decision-making process will be made a permanent feature,” Jain said. He promised to ensure the construction of flyovers, along with multi-storey and underground parking lots to lessen traffic and parking woes.

‘Congress failed on every front’

CHANDIGARH: The BJP candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Chandigarh, Satya Pal Jain, alleged on Saturday that the Congress had failed on every front and the United Progressive Alliance regime at the Centre was coming down as a house of cards.

Addressing party workers, Mr. Jain said the UPA constituents were realising that in the coming polls the voters were not going to give a mandate to the alliance and therefore they were deserting it.

He asked them to highlight “acts of omission and commission” of the UPA regime and the “achievements” of the erstwhile NDA Government before the voters.

In charge of BJP affairs in the state Satya Pal Jain said the UPA alliance which had been forged to keep the BJP out of power had fallen apart as the only binding force for them was to enjoy power unlike his party which was capable of proving good governance and political stability.

Addressing a press conference here today, he said the BJP-led NDA alliance had merged stronger as its partners in the Centre as well as most other states were still with it. “The coming together of the UPA alliance partners was a perfect example of opportunism in the garb of providing a secular government,” he remarked.

He said there was no scope for polarisation of forces in the name of secularism as it was an unnatural alliance whose partners were talking in different tone in various states. Sounding an optimistic note he said the NDA would get support from the people to form the next government.

Court imposes cost on Anand Sharma, Amrinder and Vohra

Shimla ,  March 21 A local court today imposed costs on three  Congress leaders including   Union Minister  Anand Sharma, former  Punjab chief minister  Amrinder   Singh and   Motilal   Vohra for failing to produce witnesses in separate defamation cases filed against them by the   Chief    Minister  Prem  Kumar     Dhumal six years ago.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Yashwant Chogal imposed a cost of Rs 500 on the Union Minister of State for External Affairs for seeking adjournment of hearing in the defamation case as the witness in the case was not abvailable.

The case was filed against Sharma by Dhumal after the former allegedly charged him with amassing wealth through corrupt means at a press conference at Barog in Solan district during the 2003 assembly elections in the hill state.

Besides, the court directed Sharma, also a Rajya Sabha member from Himachal Pradesh, to pay dietary expenses to R S Mankotea, the witness in the defamation case.

Satyapal Jain, representing Dhumal in the case, opposed the adjournment sought by Sharma&aposs advocate, arguing that the accused was intentionally trying to delay the matter.

In another similar case of defamation filed by Dhumal against Amarinder Singh and Motilal Vohra for allegedly levelling graft charges against him at a public meeting during the same elections in the state, the CJM&aposs court imposed a cost of Rs 200 each on them for their failure to produce their witness in the court and posted the matter for hearing on May 23.

NDA's candidate from the city for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections Satya Pal Jain, accused the Congress-led UPA government for betraying the interests of farmers and villagers of the city through its five year term.

Addressing a public meeting at Khudda Alisher village today, Jain said while neighbouring Punjab has been paying upto Rs 1.5 crore per acre for land acquired for public purpose, Chandigarh villages have been suffering at the hands of the UPA government which has been doling out a mere Rs 10 to 18 lakh per acre to land owners in the UT.

Accusing the Union government of favouring the coloniser-builder class at the cost of the farmer villager, Jain said on coming to power, the NDA will give compensation for land in UT on a par with that being given by Punjab.

He added that the party will extend the lal dora limits of villages in the UT and will regularise construction in areas outside the lal dora limits, as against the ruling party. ...

The BJP is filing a formal complaint with the Election Commission against AICC minority cell chairman Imranur Rehman Kidwai “for making inflammatory religious statements while seeking votes for the Congress in Chandigarh.”

The complaint also mentions name of the Congress candidate from Chandigarh and Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal. Also mentioned is the name of senior Congress leader Mohsina Kidwai. Both seemed to have endorsed Imranur Kidwai’s statement because they were present there and did not object to it, said BJP Chandigarh parliamentary candidate Satya Pal Jain and party’s prabhari for Punjab and Chandigarh Balbir Punj.

They played a CD of the meeting here today and alleged that in the meeting Kidwai had “regretted not being a Mufti which would have enabled him to issue just one fatwa to Muslims not to go with the BJP as it would amount to committing kufr.”

Punj also alleged that Kidwai had claimed in his speech that “had the Muslim community not been with the Congress, India would not have attained independence.”

They further added that Kidwai also assured the Muslims that their personal law was their shariat and they would not allow any change in it since shariat is like imaan.”

“Thus, according to Kidwai, those seeking reforms in Muslim personal law are guilty of attacking the imaan of the Muslim community,” Punj alleged.

CHANDIGARH: Senior BJP leader Satyapal Jain defends his high-profile clients like the prime ministerial hopeful of the party LK Advani in the Babri Mosque demolition case as comfortably as he demolishes his opponents with his gift of the gab.

Probably one of the best lawyers around of election petitions, Jain takes pride in his humble beginning as a newspaper hawker who went on to graduate to become a robust youth leader during the emergency. He spent a full term in jail during the emergency. A man of lofty ideas, Jain however has many enemies within the party.

Jain is this time riding the election on a winning note he set off in Himachal when he brought the party to power in the recent assembly elections. The BJP leader, who has had proximity with former Union minister Sushma Swaraj, is gearing up to give Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal a good fight.

Congress party’s failure to make any concrete policy envisioning the problems of the future for the city and its residents, like houses, price hike, public participation in decision-making, lack of proper infrastructure and tussle between the administrator and Member of Parliament (MP) would be a few prominent issues among the several which BJP is going to raise before the public during its campaigns.

Former MP and senior leader of the BJP Satya Pal Jain, who is contesting from the city for the fifth time and got victory twice, is not only believing that BJP would clinch the parliamentary seat of the city, but he has full faith that NDA would return to power after a gap of five years.

In an exclusive talk with TOI, Jain blamed Bansal for ignoring the city. Jain is the only candidate who favours a Vidhan Sabha for the Union Territory to push development and governance on a faster trajectory.

‘A vision for the city is necessary. Population of the city is increasing, but nothing has been done in this regard at all. If I come to the power, a concrete plan would be formed, keeping the future of the city in mind, so that problems of residence, education, health, sanitation and infrastructure could be sorted out,’ he said.

‘Neither home minister nor administrator has been calling meetings of the advisory committee. Thus, public participation in decision-making has vanished. I assure that if BJP comes to power in the city, the concept of public participation in decision-making would flourish. Separate committees and groups would be formed in this regard,’ he added.

He further said that for the development of the city, they would form inter-state development council with the help and involvement of the neighbouring states Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, especially for constitution of electricity power plant, policies of youth development, to deal with power and water crisis etc. He further said the land acquisition rates would then be determined on the pattern of Punjab government. ...
