Chandigarh: Senior leader of BJP and former MP Satya Pal Jain has demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should issue clear orders to the Chandigarh Administration to allot the 13-type houses to its occupants.
In a letter written to the PM, Jain said instead of writing routine, vague and illusory letters to the local officials, the central government should issue clear directions to them if it sincerely wants accept the genuine demand of the occupants of the 13-type Houses.
“During the last Lok Sabha, the Congress party and the local MP, besides Dr Manmohan Singh, who had come to Chandigarh to campaign for the Congress candidate in May 2004, had given a commitment to these employees that in case Congress comes to power in the centre, it will immediately accept this demand and allot 13-type houses to their occupants on hire-purchase basis,” said the letter.
He urged the PM to either get this proposal approved by the Union Cabinet or if need be, bring suitable legislation in the Parliament.
