Chandigarh (PTI): Accusing the Congress of comparing "nationalistic organisation" Bajrang Dal with SIMI, a senior BJP leader on Tuesday said the party will oppose if the Centre imposed a ban on the saffron outfit.
"It is a matter of great sorrow that Congress-led Central Government has not been able to curb terrorism and take action against terrorists organisations. But instead it has started working for imposing ban on the nationalistic organisation (Bajrang Dal)," Satya Pal Jain, party in-charge for Himachal Pradesh, said.
He said that Bajrang Dal functions on the basis of "nationalistic view point and ideology and it can sacrifice its all for the sake of unity and integrity of the country". "Therefore, it will be an insult to the nationalistic ideology if an organisation like Bajrang Dal is banned," Jain said in a statement. He also took objection to the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) demanding a ban on Bajrang Dal, saying it has no power to make such recommendation.
"It seems that the Minority commission has made this recommendation at the instance of Congress party and some other leaders, who are only concerned with their vote bank instead of the unity and integrity of the country," he alleged.
