BJP to file fresh plea on CPS, PS

Shimla, June 29: THE Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to take its fight against former Chief Parliamentary Secretaries and Parliamentary Secretaries, who have just received some reprieve from the Election Commission of India, to the state High Court.
The EC has turned down BJP's plea for disqualification of the 12 Ex-CPSs and PSs - an issue which was referred to the Commission by state Governor V.S.Kokje early this year. Says Satya Pal Jain, a noted lawyer and head of the BJP's all India legal cell: "It's a fit case to challenge the EC order and also Himachal Pradesh (Prevention of disqualification of members) Act 1971".
Speaking to newsmen Jain claimed that after the constitutional amendment relating to downsizing of the ministries, the Himachal law has become infructous. This point was also raised in the PIL relating to appointments of CPS and PS but the court had left it undecided. ...
