Jain complains about Bansal's assets

3 May 2004,CHANDIGARH: BJP candidate Satya Pal Jain on Monday lodged a complaint with the Returning Officer (RO) for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency against his Congress opponent Pawan Kumar Jain regarding the assets disclosed by the latter in his poll nomination affidavit.
Releasing a copy of the complaint to the media, Jain said he told the returning officer about the pecuniary interest Bansal has in the Heritage Educational Society, which runs the Delhi Public School in the city.
The complaint Bansal said that in the affidavit Jain had claimed that he had advanced an unsecured loan of Rs 9.88 lakh to the society, but had not mentioned the rate of interest at which the money had been lent.
It said Bansal had also not mentioned about any guarantee or mortgaging of any asset against the said loan. More over, Bansal had also failed to disclose his interest in the property of the society in which he was a member along with his sons and Congress leader Ambika Soni, the complaint said.
Jain also appealed to the RO to take appropriate action against Bansal for concealing the facts in his affidavit despite it being mandatory for him to do so.
Jain also claimed that Bansal had not utilised his MPLADs funds properly during his tenure as an MP from the city between 1991 and 1996. He said during the period, Bansal had got Rs 2.05 crore from the MP fund, but 1.17 crore of the fund was left unutilised
