CHANDIGARH, June 9: Local Member of Parliament Satya Pal Jain has urged the Administration to end the drive against removal of rehris and pharis in the City. He has also called for granting licences to all such people selling their wares on the roadside.
In a press statement issued here today, Jain said that the enforcement wing of the state office and the municipal Corporation were "unnecessarily harassing the poor by removing their rehris". Jain said the poor be given liberty to earn their livelihood and their rehris and pharis should not be removed. He added that if the Administration could not provide adequate employment avenues, it has no right to take away the livelihood of those who earn their own living. He also highlighted their harassment after their rehris were removed.
