‘Chandigarh at the mercy of criminals'

CHANDIGARH: Former Bharatiya Janata Party MP and all-India in-charge of the legal and legislative wing of the BJP Satya Pal Jain on Friday urged Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram to immediately come to Chandigarh, assess “the completely broken law and order situation” and take corrective measures to restore the confidence of the common man in the law enforcing agencies.
In a statement issued here, he said that after the bomb blast in Varanasi, the Home Minister had said that maintaining law and order was the responsibility of the concerned State government.
“The Home Minister must be aware that Chandigarh being a Union Territory, it is the Central Government which is the State Government also for Chandigarh. In such a situation, why are the Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the other Ministers just acting as silent spectators to what is happening in Chandigarh?” he asked.
Mr. Jain alleged that law and order had completely collapsed in Chandigarh and everyone was feeling unsafe and living under the threat of either being kidnapped or killed.
The way five-year-old Khushpreet was kidnapped and brutally murdered, every parent was scared of sending their children even to the playground to play and every senior citizen was feeling unsafe in their own house.
Mr. Jain charged that the Central Government had left Chandigarh at the mercy of criminals who were moving around freely and the police instead of arresting them were “using lathis and tear-gas against innocent peace-loving citizens.” ...

Jain criticizes Central Government for deteriorating Law & Order situation in Chandigarh

Chidambaram to immediately come to Chandigarh, assess the 'Completely broken' Law and order situation in the city and take corrective measures to restore law and order in the city as well as the confidence of the common man in the law enforcing agencies. He said that the way a 5 year old innocent child ‘Khushpreet’ was kidnapped and brutally murdered, every parent is scared of sending their children even to the playground to play and every senior citizen is feeling unsafe in their own houses. Mr. Jain said that the Central Government has left Chandigarh at the mercy of criminals and their own luck. The criminals are moving around freely in the city and the police instead of arresting them, is using lathis & tear gas against innocent peace-loving citizens. He said that the Central Government is fully responsible for whatever is happening in Chandigarh, including the outburst of people against the local administration.

मेयर चुनाव: कांग्रेस ने किया लोकतंत्र का कत्ल

चंडीगढ़। भाजपा नगर निगम के मेयर के चुनावों में हुई गड़बड़ी को लेकर इसी हफ्ते अदालत में याचिका दायर करेगी। बीजेपी की चंडीगढ़ इकाई के अध्यक्ष सत्यपाल जैन ने यह यहां कहा। सत्यपाल जैन सहित कांग्रेस की सभी विपक्षी दलों ने सोमवार को एक जॉइंट प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस की। कॉन्फ्रेंस में जैन ने कहा कि चुनाव में हार जीत तो होती ही रहती है लेकिन इस बार चुनाव में कांग्रेस ने जो किया वह लोकतंत्र का कत्ल था।
जैन ने कहा कि संसदीय कार्यमंत्री पवन कुमार बंसल ने चुनाव के दौरान खुलेआम प्रिसाइडिंग ऑफिसर रिटा. ब्रिगेडियर कुलदीप सिंह चांदपुरी की बात नहीं मानी। चांदपुरी ने कहा था कि वोट डालते हुए मोबाइल फोन लेकर न जाएं लेकिन बंसल ने ऐसा मानने से साफ इंकार कर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि पहले पार्षद जगजीत कंग को मेयर घोषित किया गया था। लेकिन कुछ समय बाद कांग्रेसी पार्षदों ने पवन बंसल की शह पर नतीजे बदले और बाद में कांग्रेस के उम्मीदवार रविंदर सिंह पाली को मेयर घोषित किया गया। जैन के मुताबिक इसमें निगम के कुछ अधिकारियों की भी मिलीभगत थी।
देखे पार्षदों के मोबाइल
जैन ने कहा कि 1 जनवरी की शाम को बंसल ने कांग्रेसी पार्षदों के मोबाइल देखे। ऐसे मेें इन सभी कांग्रेसी पार्षदों के वोट इन वैलिड हो जाने चाहिए क्योंकि नियम के अनुसार यह सीक्रेट वोटिंग थी और वोट को दिखाया जाना नियमों के खिलाफ है। जैन ने कहा कि वह प्रधानमंत्री, राष्ट्रपति, लोक सभा व राज्य सभा के स्पीकर व डिप्टी स्पीकर को एक मेमोरेडम सौंपेंगे। विपक्ष के सभी राजनैतिक दलों की ओर से एक संयुक्त मेमोरेडम होगा। मेमोरेंडम में बंसल को पद से हटाने की मांग की जाएगी। कॉन्फ्रेंस के दौरान बीजेपी पार्षदों के अलावा बीएसपी के हाफिज अनवर, आरजेडी के रविंदर किश्न, भाजपा के अरुण सूद और जनता पार्टी के अजय जग्गा भी मौजूद थे।
