Set up Ayurvedic Board for UT: Jain

CHANDIGARH: Former MP and senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain has urged the Centre to constitute a separate and independent Ayurvedic Board for the UT as has been done in almost all other states, and keep the ongoing campaign of criminally prosecuting the various ayurvedic and RMP doctors, practising in various parts of the city, especially in villages and slums, in abeyance, till then.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the BJP leader said that the Congress-led Central government had not been able to provide either the government dispensaries or the government doctors in various villages, colonies and other such areas of the city, which were overwhelmingly inhabited by poor and downtrodden section of society.
He said that because of this, it was the hundreds of ayurvedic and RMP doctors who were providing the minimum medical facilities to these poor people in those areas.
He further said that for the last few months, the government was insulting and humiliating these doctors by arresting them, because of which these doctors had been forced to shut down their shops, which in turn was affecting the medical assistance to the poor and needy people.

Jain demands constitution of Ayurvedic Board for Chandigarh

Chandigarh Oct 28 : Bharatiya Janata Party national executive member Satya Pal Jain, a former MP, today urged the Central Government to constitute a separate and independent Ayurvedic Board for the Union Territory of Chandigarh as has been done in the case of almost all other states.
He also urged the Government to keep the ongoing campaign of criminally prosecuting various Ayurvedic doctors and Registered Medical Practioners (RMPs) who are practicing in various parts of the city, especially in villages and slum areas, in abeyance till then. ...
Mr Jain urged the Government to immediately stop this campaign of criminally prosecuting these doctors and if there are any doubts about their qualifying degrees, the matter be amicably sorted out by mutual dialogue. He said that if an independent Ayurvedic Board is constituted, it can remove all doubts about it and can find a permanent solution to this problem.
Mr Jain met the the Health Secretary of Chandigarh Union Territory along with a delegation of Ayurvedic and RMP doctors on this issue a few days back. He has written a letter about it to the Administration of Chandigarh and sent a copy of that letter to the Union Home Minister for necessary action.

...Terming Rahul Gandhi's call for ending dynastic politics, Jain said the young Gandhi being himself a fifth generation beneficiary of dynastic politics was only paying lip service whereas the BJP was against such politics from the start. The BJP central committee on merits picked up Baldev Raj Chaudhary as the party candidate from Jawali and did so after taking the state unit into confidence and in interests of the party, he said. National party vice-president Shanta Kumar and state president Khimmi Ram were present with Chaudhary for filing of nomination papers today and the Chief Minister along with several ministers would be present in Rohru, on Wednesday for filing of papers by Khushi Ram Balnahta, the BJP candidate from there, disclosed Jain.

Shimla, October 20: With questions being raised on the reinstatement of tainted officers facing serious corruption charges, the BJP today said there was no question of compromising on the issue of corruption as criminal investigations against them would continue.
Addressing a press conference here today, Satya Pal Jain, in-charge of BJP affairs in Himachal, defended the move of the government to reinstate IAS officer Sanjay Gupta and State Drug Controller Sher Singh.
“Each case is decided on merit and the government exercised the powers vested in it to reinstate Gupta,” he said in reply to a query.
Citing the Supreme Court rulings, Jain said it had been recommended that rather than keeping officers under suspension and giving them 75 per cent salary, it was a better option to reinstate them and take work from them. “There would be no compromise on criminal investigation in the cases registered against these officers and the government will take the final decision on their reinstatement after examining individual cases,” he said.
... In reply to a query on dynastic politics, he said it did not behove Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who was himself a fifth generation Gandhi-Nehru, to talk about ending politics of dynasty.
“There could be stray cases of children following the footsteps of their fathers in the BJP. Moreover, all such persons have made it on the basis of their own calibre and ability and not because of their lineage,” he remarked.
He said while Rahul Gandhi was talking about ending politics of dynasty as a mere political slogan, the BJP was serious on the issue.
