Chandigarh , May 11 BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha today said that poverty in India has gone up by 20 per cent during the past five years and blamed the UPA government for it.
" Poverty has gone up by 20 per cent and the Congress government is singing development tunes, but it has failed to deliver on development. The pace of development has not just stalled but has turned negative,"he said while campaigning in favour party candidate from Chandigarh Satya Pal Jain.
Sinha said that the largest number of poor are in India and over one and a half crore people lost jobs in the last one year alone in the country.
" This problem not only needs to be addressed but action should has be taken to create more jobs for the growing number of our talented youth. Congress party is not capable of solving this problem, if they had such capacity, the problem would not have arisen in the first place,"he said.
Taking a dig at the Congress, he said" Congress is down and UPA is out".
