‘NDA confident of forming govt on its own’

Chandigarh Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will emerge as the single largest party way ahead of the Congress after the results of the Lok Sabha elections are announced on May 16, said Sushma Swaraj, who was in the city to campaign for BJP candidate Satya Pal Jain.
Terming the UPA as the “unlimited Prime Minister’s alliance”, Swaraj said that there is not much left of the UPA as most of its coalition partners have abandoned it.
“While the allies of UPA are leaving it, we have formed four new alliances in Assam, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. We are confident of forming a government,” she said.
Swaraj added that L K Advani was the undisputed Prime Ministerial candidate of NDA and with his 60 years of experience he is best suited for the post.
Swaraj called the Third Front as a non-starter which was being punctured at times by BSP supremo Mayawati and at the others by AIADMK chief J Jayalalitha.
The senior BJP leader added the anti-incumbency wave was strong against the Congress all over the country, including Chandigarh. “People are not happy with the functioning of the local MP,” she said.
Swaraj also supported the demand of women reservation in Parliament. She said that presently women do not get tickets to contest polls, but this will change after a policy comes into force.
