‘BJP is committed to the welfare of minorities’

Chandigarh “The BJP has always supported the cause of minorities in Chandigarh,” said National Secretary of BJP minority Cell Joseph Varikesri on Saturday while campaigning for party candidate Satya Pal Jain.
While claiming the BJP has given financial support for the maintenance of cemeteries in Sector 25 and other places, Varikesari said they have also been helpful in procuring land for madarsas and churches.
Maulana Mohammad Kasim, president of Chandigarh state BJP minority cell, said his party has always been committed to the welfare of minorities.
General Secretary of the cell Haji Mumtaj Ahmad said if Jain wins the election and the NDA forms a government at the Centre, lands will be secured for a ‘Muslim land’ and mosques. Promising land for a church in Ramdarbar and an Imambara for the Shia community, Ahmad said the BJP is committed to ensuring job opportunities for the youth belonging to inorities.
Treasurer of BJP minority cell Haji Muhammad Khurshid appealed to all members of the Muslim community and other minorities to support Jain.
The teachers of government-aided private schools and Joint Action Committee of DAV schools, meanwhile, extended support to Jain today. Also, the members of the LIC Agents’ Association (Chandigarh Division) tendered a letter of support to the BJP candidate.
Jain addressed gatherings in Sectors 38, 39, 40 and 20, today, in addition to a padyatra that he had undertaken in the Sector-17 market.
Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Maj Gen B C Khandoori will campaign for the party on Sunday along with former Union Minister ID Swami.
