1 Feb 2009, CHANDIGARH: The attempt at removing encroachments at the Sector 38-west gurdwara on Friday led to apologies being sought from estate office and UT police on Saturday. Six cops and officials, including additional deputy commissioner IS Sandhu and additional SHO of sector-39 police station Hukum Chand, were badly hurt during the operation as they were allegedly attacked by sewadars. Apart from gurdwara management committee members, other Sikh clergymen, and some political leaders also joined the chorus for apologies.
They also demanded that all the people arrested in Friday's operation be released.
Jathedar Keshgarh Sahib Tarlochan Singh, Union minister of state for finance Pawan Kumar Bansal, former MPs Satya Pal Jain and Harmohan Dhawan and former Chandigarh mayor Harjinder Kaur were among the 150 people at the meeting held at the gurdwara.

I am shocked that senior officials were not taken into confidence before taking a big decision like carrying out demolition at a place of worship." ...
