Shimla, July 7: Shimla Chief Judicial Magistrate Yashwant Chogal today reserved its order on an application moved by Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, and Moti Lal Vohra, treasurer of the Indian National Congress, seeking exemption from appearing personally in the court in connection with a criminal case of defamation filed by P.K. Dhumal, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. ...

Senior advocate Satya Pal Jain, along with Sandeep Kaushik, who appeared for the complainant, opposed the application and said under the law, the person was required to appear personally to reply to the charges against him. There was no justification in deviating from the law in the present case.
