"Suspend talks with Pakistan" - Rajnath Singh

Chandigarh, October 1: A day after the Mumbai Police revelation that Pak-based terror outfits and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were behind the serial train blasts on July 11 in Mumbai, the BJP asked the Centre to break off peace process with Pakistan and reconsider continuation of diplomatic relations. "The Pakistan High Commissioner should be immediately summoned and categorically told that India will reconsider continuation of diplomatic relations with Pakistan," BJP President Rajnath Singh told a press conference in Chandigarh. ...
...The BJP President, who was in Chandigarh to inaugurate the party's Chandigarh unit office, cautioned the Centre against continuing talks with Pakistan, and said if the UPA government failed to snap ties with Pakistan, the BJP would 'gherao' Parliament to oppose the peace talks. "We will not allow India-Pakistan talks to continue in the present circumstances," he said. ...
... Accusing the Centre of hurting nationalists by jumbling the date of the centenary celebrations of the National Song, Vande Mataram, Rajnath Singh asked, "Can (Congress President) Sonia Gandhi tell the nation what the exact date is and why she hates to sing the National Song?" ...
... Earlier, he inaugurated the newly-built office complex of the Chandigarh BJP. Former BJP MP from Chandigarh Satpal Jain and BJP MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu, welcomed the BJP President. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Captain Kanwaljit Singh was also present and later addressed the gathering.

CAT fixes Nov 7 for arguments on petition by Chahal against UPSC

CHANDIGARH: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)on Monday fixed November 7 for arguments on a petition filed by Bikarmjit Inder Singh Chahal against Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for giving him different marks in marks sheet and answer sheets in the Civil Services (main) examination held in March 2005. ...
... Satya Pal Jain, former BJP MP, the counsel for UPSC told the court that UPSC had conducted moderation of all answer sheets as per the provisions of rules of commission. He said that difference of marks was due to moderation of marks of all candidates. ...

Naidu Condemns Congress

Chandigarh, October 8: Former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Venkaiah Naidu, who was in town today on the occasion of birth anniversary celebrations of Maharishi Valmiki, criticised the Congress government by saying that some of its leaders are supporting the clemency petition of Mohammad Afzal Guru.
Local BJP leaders Satya Pal Jain and Yashpal Mahajan were also present on the occasion. While addressing mediapersons, Naidu condemned the Congress party leaders alleging that they are supporting the clemency plea. Naidu said, "He (Afzal) does not deserve any leniency and he should be hanged as per the verdict of the Apex Court." ...

BJP president told centre to break peace talks with Pak

CHANDIGARH: On the heels of claims of Pakistan involvement in Mumbai blasts , the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday asked UPA government in centre to immediately withdraw from peace process with Pakistan.
Rajmath Singh who was here to inaugurate the office of Chandigarh unit of BJP, in a public meeting asked centre government to stop the peace process with Pakistan. He said that if UPA government failed to snap ties with Pakistan, BJP would 'gherao' the Parliament.
Rajnath Singh took the centre government to task for giving disrespect to national song of 'Vande Matram'. He said that government had hurt the nationalists by jumbling the date of centenary celebrations of national song observed on September 7 last. He said a day after, the government came out with statement that they didn't know exact date of centenary. Can Sonia Gandhi tell the nation what the exact date is and why she hates to sing the national song? , Rajnath Singh asked. ...
